Starkwood Designs offers the discriminating homeowner, interior designer, and interior architect, a nearly infinite range of possibilities.  From the ornate through the popular colonial and early American styles, to the stark simplicity of the contemporary laminate finishes, the window cornice board is back and we can make it special!

Just take a look at our latest additions to the Gallery for lots of design ideas that became reality at Starkwood Designs!  We can even incorporate your fabric into the design to match drapes or furniture!  And moldings...we have access to many different  styles.  Click Moldings to see just a small sampling of profiles and images.

One-of-a-kind or multiple units, from Alaska to Maine, we are at home with custom specifications. So, if you're searching for a window cornice to complement swags, drapes, the new varieties of wood blinds, or any other window treatment,  think of Starkwood Designs!

Each keystone we create for one of our window cornices is designed for the particular molding combination you choose. It is then, hand crafted to provide a quality appearance and years of enjoyment for you.If you have fabric or wallpaper that you want to incorporate into your window cornices, just send it to us and we will do it for you! This cornice is 12" tall, but can be adjusted to any height you chose. 100% custom flexibility is what makes us special! This cornice evolved from a
some-what more conservative style, the Diplomat, featured in our Gallery.

The keystone at right conceals the connection of two pieces to create a cornice for a large sliding glass door that measured nearly twelve feet across.  The fabric matches furniture upholstery.  Here's what our customer had to say after her cornice arrived:

"Dear Tom,

Sorry I have not got back to you sooner, but the cornice is wonderful, we put it up the day it came and it looks terrific. I promise to send you pictures of it as soon as I can .  Thank you so much for everything, it is a pleasure to do business with you, I would recommend your company highly. I wish I had more windows to do."

"Absolutely use me as a very satisfied customer, I am already telling all my friends about your work and what a pleasure it was to deal with you.  Thank you again."

Height - 13"; Finish - Antiqued off-white with siimulated gilding on embellishments and detail. The Daniella is one of our more ornate window cornice creations.

Our customer's Massachusetts residence had been decorated by a professional before she purchased the home, but the previous owner removed four cornices before vacating.  Using a photo of the original cornices, our direction was to "capture the look!"  We accepted the challenge, and Mary responded enthusiastically!

We produced this window cornice for a client with a severe allergy to chemicals. Requiring special materials did not stop us from getting our customer what she needed. See testimonial below.
Design & Photo by Ida H., Wakefield, MA  (other views)
(cornices constructed to meet the requirements of a chemically-sensitive client)

"Tom,

The cornices arrived this evening and I am absolutely thrilled! They are just what I wanted and more. First off, I thought my husband would have to coat the wood because of his chemical sensitivities. Then I thought I would have to struggle with the border paper. Your work is absolutely fabulous!...

Thanks, Tom, for a job well done.
Sincerely,
Ida

Another Testimonial...

"I am sorry it took so long to get back to you. My husband was off yesterday and he opened the cornices. He did not get them hung yet, but they are absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much. I am very pleased. The color is perfect with my furniture. I appreciate all the time you took and the way you stayed in touch with me. It was a pleasure doing business with you. Thank you, Lisa L"

Solid mahogany was a must for this window cornice project since the client had a bookcase between the windows that needed to be matched. This has since turned out to be one of our most popular window cornice designs.

The Colonist - Concept by Kara Marie, Inc., Pelham, NY, (5.5" height) (other views)

The challenge here was to come as close to matching the antique bookcase and furnishings
that graced our customer's client's home.  Using solid mahogany and custom stains and finish...
mission accomplished!  The perfect compliment to London Shades.  Another satisfied customer!

Classic white colonial styles are always in demand for those seeking the period look for thier window cornices. We have since produced several other projects for this customer with very pleasing results.
